Massa slings Ferrari to Singapore pole

Crediting the car with being just right, Ferrari's Felipe Massa on Saturday put down what he called a perfect lap and took pole position for the inaugural Grand Prix of Singapore, to be the first night race in 58 years of Formula One history. The Brazilian lapped the high-dollar candlepower-bathed 3.148-mile downtown and marina district street circuit in 1 minute, 44.801 seconds, more than six-tenths of a second quicker than fellow front-row holder Lewis Hamilton of McLaren Mercedes (1:45.465), who barely advanced from the second of three knockout ...
